Let Me In - Unsure if I actually reviewed this or not and I'm lazy / stressed for time. In all honesty I prefer the original to this but this is still a solid film. Strong acting from the young leads and a few changes here and there allow the film to almost be its own. Fans of good horror should check this out. Subtle and haunting. 4/5

Burlesque - I was semi-excited for this but honestly it's the same ole story of a young girl trying to make a name for herself. We have a cranky owner played by Cher, a homosexual played by that one guy who always plays a gay man. With a few solid tunes I can say the film held my interest but it was rather weak for a musical. 2/5

Trong:legecy - Oh man, I couldn't wait for this film. And as such it was a major let down. The first 15 minutes set up nothing of importance but then we enter the digital world and the awesome soundtrack kicks in. We witness some sexy battles ala the original Tron and then the film goes all to hell. It becomes down right tedious to watch. The acting is over the top, the characters are 2 dimensional and much like last years Prince of Persia film, the love plot line feels forced and is unbelievable. The ending also leaves a lot to be desired and for a run time of 2 hours, there is maybe 15 minutes of actgion. Rest of it is talky talky and just repeating the same thing over and over. - 1/5

Why Did I Get Married 2 - Dear Tylr Perry, we know, being blacxk is tough. Being a black woman is tougher. You're only one of these things and while this sequel to mediocre film has a few highlights, nothing you have directed or written has come close to your break out hit, Diary of a Mad Black Woman. If you don't fall into the aimed for audience then please just pass on by. 1.5/5

Love and Other Drugs - typical rom-com featuring Anne Hathaway's boobies yet again and Jake Gylha-whatever's tight little butt. Frankly without the nudity and a half way decent dialog at the end of the film I would have been bored to tears. It's okay in the wadding pool of rom coms but you can do better. - 2/5

Paul - Total geek out here boys and girls. If you're into sci-fi films. If you get jokes like 'Get away from her you bitch" then this movie is for you. Just a very enjoyable film. Sometimes cheesy, over the top plot and script but thats the point. It's no Shaun or Hot Fuzz but still fairly solid. - 3.5/5

Gasland - Oscar Nom docu from my area. Too bad the director has one of the most boring, monotone voices I've ever heard. Plus there's lots of Banjo music... It also shows that NE Pa is full of freaks that will most like go Deliverance on your ass - 1.5/5

All Good Things - Never heard of this. It was a limited release with a decent cast. It's slow, boring and ultimately pointless. based on a true story, yadda yadda. It could have at least been a worth while story. - 1/5

Rubber - The film about a killer tire. It's in your face stupid. It's about a kilelr tire with psychokinetic powers and it jumps into the 4th dimension a few times. Just plain ole stupid cheese. 2/5

Actually, you know what? I'm going to save the SCream post for Thursday, give me something to work on then. I've done a lot of gaming and read and music listening so I'll try and play catch up :-p

Gulliver's Faster Travels to take the Virginity Hit

2010 was one of the worst years in cinema that I can remember. The indie hits were very weak, a lot of films got shuffled around and re-edited. Then we get an indie comedy, a "blockbuster" 3D remake and a random action movie staring The Rock.

Let's start off with Gulliver's Travels which is based off a novel and has been made into a movie a number of times in the past. It's in 3D this time and we all know that that isn't an overused gimmick to bring people in and charge them for something that isn't wrth it.

Jack Black is one of the least funny people and I haven't been able to stand him since the movie "The Jackal". It's clear he wanted to do a film that his kids could watch but this crap isn't funny or cute. The acting otherwise is just so deadpan that I can't figure out how this wasn't just shoved out in the summer instead of the prime Christmas release it got. Judging by the films totals thus far it's less than a hit which is a plus in my book. 1/5

Next up is faster a film staring The Rock, who I personally don't care for but hot damn he looks fine in a few scenes, aka some reshoots. Faster is a balls to the walls action/revenge movie. It tries to be nothing else and that'sd okay because as far as mindless action films go it's not too bad. Even the acting is decent. The problem I had is that the re-shoots were obvious, some of the actors look different enough that it's noticable. Mainly The Rock who looks more built in random scenes. I know it's hard to cover those kind of things up but I doubt the film really needed that many reshoots. 2.5/5

And finally we have The Virginity Hit which is a most likely fake documentary about 4 friends who take a hit from a bong when their cherries get popped. Right from the start everyone gets it on except our dorky lead whose friends make a plea on-line to get him laid and this major babe from Vegas says she feels sorry for him and will be his first. You can see where the film is going but it some how pulls something off that is surprising and I think it's because of how much attention is put on the details, which is also the reason I think the film is fake. Sure, I could look it up on-line but I'm being lazy and really, wouldn't it take away from the film knowing the truth before you see it? Oh and don't get the wrong idea the film isn't funny or good and isn't worth viewing. Sorry if I got your hopes up. 1/5

~~~~~~
I actually viewed these films a week or two ago and just now got around to putting this up. I've been busy with work, hospital visits and god knows what other shit as it's been a whirlwind. I have a lot of content and ideas to post but rigfht now it's about finding the time to talk about the stuff. Feel free to follow me on Twitter for quick ratings and what not Wolverinefactor
Sing for the Sorrow
I believe that music defines a person. I bring this up because my other half asked me what my favorite song was and I couldn't provide an answer. There's songs I love because they are fun or because they express a certain emotion that just clicks with me. So I've been thinking, what would be my favorite song?
The first song to pop into my head was Never There by Cake.
It's a great song but really it's kind of depressing when you think about it. The next song to pop into my head was My Letter by Flaw.
Again, it's kind of a depressing song and maybe that does define me but today I was thinking about it and two other songs popped into my head. The first was Austin by Blake Shelton.
This is such an amazing song. It's what real love should be like, or at least at the end of the song. It's about letting going of someone and both of you just hanging on to the thought of each other and then finding out you both still want to be together. It's that kind of love that we all look for.
However another song pps into my head. Ironically ough it's another country song. It sadly didn't do to well in the States but was very popular in Canada, go figure. The song is When You Come Around by Deric Ruttan.
Much like the last song, this one shares the theme of waiting for the that person to come back to you. It's a little less romantic by the end but it's such a strong song that I can't decide which one I like more. The song that shows that hope is worth while or maybe the slightly more depressing song where the love got away but you're willing to hang onto the hope that one day tey will come back to you. I don't know which I'd go with some maybe it's a tie. For the record my boyfriends favorite song is The Power of Love by Huey Lewis & The News.
So what does this mean? Is everyone's favorite song about love, the one emotion we all crave for?
~~~~~~

I didn't think this topic would take up so much space and I don't want to bog everyone down with too many thoughts at once. I've gotten a lot done in the past few days but I think I'm going to stink with the topic of music for this post and save the other stuff for another day.

I'm a big fan of My Chemical Romance and I've had their new cd since it came out but never got around to listening to it until today. I'd heard a few mixed things about it, their new sound either being hit or miss with fans. Personally I love the cd, well sorta.

The first half of the cd has a few old school vibe for the band which is great. The second half of the cd feels a little slower and a little less emo which isn't really a bad thing and honestly I haven't finished listening to the cd because it actually has 15 songs and I got the special edition so it has even more.

Despite thinking of this as one of my top 3 albums of the year I have to admit that the latest Taylor Swift single is one of my favorite songs to come out in 2010. Back to December fits right in with my two favorites, making a mistake when it comes to love and wanting to give it another chance.

~~~~~~
I'm also a huge Rock Band junkie and this carries over into my spending tab for 2011 so I'm going to try and make this short and sweet.
My current purchases of 2011 are...
1. :iphone: Diner Dash - 0.00
2. :pc: Half Life 1 Anthology - 3.74
- Half Life
- Opposing Forces
- Blue Shift
- Team Fortress Classic
3. :360: 400 MS points - $5
- Nom Nom Nom Nom by Perry ???? (Rock Band DLC)
- I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance (Rock Band Dlc)
- Under Pressure by Queen (Rock Band 3 DLC)
:360: Rock Band Transfer code - $0.00
:360: Rock Band 2 Transfer Code - $0.00 (points left over from 2010)
:360: Mony Mony by Billy Idol - $0.00 (Left over points from 2010)
:360: Dope Show by Marilyn Manson - $0.00 (left over points from 2010)
:360: Rock Band 3 Free Track Pack 1 - $0.00
You'll notice and I'm sure as the days and months go by that I buy a lot of songs in Rock Band. I love to do the vocals which explains a lot of the cheesy 80's songs. These songs actually brought my Rock Band 3 song count to 639. I'm only missing one DLC disc, Track Pack 2 but I can't seem to find it. I also want the up coming Country pack 2 which has some decent songs on it that aren't available on the net work yet.
So what is everyone elses favorite song? Do you buy Rock band DLC? If anyone wants to play some time I play on the Xbox 360 and my gamer tag is Wolverinefactor
The start of something new
I've been messing around with the idea to do a blog of sorts for a while now but I could never figure out what to do it on. Some folks might remember my movie blog where I watched and rated every film released in 2009. I'm going to kind of use that same idea but make it more personal and put everything I do into this.
This means any movies I watch I'll talk about. I'll have check lists for what I'm trying to accomplish. I'll also mention the books I read, games I play and everything else I do. I'll try and provide links to external sources for stats and other stuff and I'm hoping to toss my pent up energy into this. The fact that I now have a laptop means I can now fit in time anywhere to do this.
I'm getting ahead of myself though. I'm a 27 year old gay male living in North East PA. If you've seen the tv show "The Office" then you'll have a vague idea of where I live.
So let's start this off with some stats for this new year. I have a few lofty goals to accomplish but hey I also have 362 days left to do it all. I'll break this down into sections and I'll also try and not overload a single day with more than one post.
~~~~~~

I'm a huge movie buff and like two years ago my goal is to view all movies released in 2011. This will be a little harder this time because my net time is limited and I'm in a relationship with someone doesn't watch movies. I'm also going to list and give at least a number rating to any film I view.

Here's a list of films I missed in 2010

Green Zone
Why Did I Get Married 2
Death at a Funeral
The Backup Plan
Babies
Standing Ovation
Let Me In
Virginity Hit
Kind of a Funny Story
Burlesque
Faster
Kin's Speech
Yogi Bear
Tron: Legecy
How Do You Know
Gulliver's Travels
True Grit
Love and Other Drugs
Morning Glory
Hereafter

The theatrical releases for January 2011 are as follows...

Season of the Witch
The Dilemma
The Green Hornet
Rabbit Hole
The Company Man
No Strings Attached
The Factory
The Mechanic
Restless
The Rite

I've viewed two films so far this year.

001. Up in the Air (2009)- This was a repeat viewing due to me buying the dvd and needing to make sure it worked. This was one of my top 3 films of 2009. 5/5

002. The Tourist (2010)- Great acting, great cinematography but one of the dullest stories with an ending I saw coming from the time the film started. 2½/5

~~~~~~
I'm an avid gamer and a total achievement whore. I'm ranked in the top 20 for my state and I'm ranked in the top 15 for most played Xbox 360 games in the world. I'm unsure at this time what my goal here is but for right this moment I'll list what I've beaten, completed, ect. so far this year.
001. :pc: Blacklight: Tango Down - This game was beaten on 1-2-11. Terms for the beat were to finish all four black ops maps. Not an easy task due to the dead community. - 1/5
002. :360: Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx - Such a tedious expansion. Endless driving, fetch quests and collection quests coming from every which way. This game was beaten on 1-2-11 and then completed (250/250GS) on 1-3-11 2/5
003. :psp: Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep - One of my top games of 2010. I love both Square and Disney and this is the first time since the original game that we get a solid title in the series. Sure 2 was good plot wise but everything felt empty. This game was beaten on 1-3-11 and this was because the ending dragged me over midnight. 4/5
~~~~~~

Hopefully I haven't bored you to tears or made your head explode from the amount of information. I'm hoping to continue this blog through the entire year but we'll see how hectic life gets.
